Actor, Producer, and Director Carlos Zapata is the pride of Bogota , Colombia 's Distrital of Culture where he put into motion the “Carnival of Bogota”. Prior to this endeavor, Mr. Zapata Directed at the theater of the Operetta of Madrid, Spain where he worked in coordination with Jose Luis Carcia Sanchez in such projects as “La Viejecita” & “Gigantes y Cabezudos”.

Since the year 1994 to the present, he is linked to the Fundación Opera Estudio, with whom he has developed several pedagogic and artistic projects. The most outstanding award winning project was " The Laboratory of Art and Creative Thought " producing and Directing the Opera Carmen & The Barber of Seville (the Love in Metal-worker) performed in Spanish with each production winning the Inter-Arts of the City of Bogota prize. From 1991 until 1994 he was manager of Producer and Scene Designer of the New Opera of Colombia of the Foundation Camarín del Carmen.

From 87-88 Carlos Zapata establishes in Guayaquil Ecuador , where the Feminine Society of Culture entrusts him the Artistic and Technical Direction of the Theatre Center of Arts León Febres Cordero.

Born in Bogota , Carlos Zapata received his professional education of Stage Management & Opera Direction with the Theatres in Cologne , Munich , New York , Paris and Madrid . He has been a disciple of the teachers Jaime Manzur, Jaime León, Willy Decker, Michael Hampe, Peter Rasky and Antón Mueller among others. Linked to the Opera of Colombia of the Colombian Institute of Culture from 1978 until 1986, he performed several managerial positions such as Assistant of General Direction, Assistant of scenic direction, Chief of Production, Director and Stage Manager.
