Clark Sturdevant, Lyric Tenor, having just landed the Artist in Residence program with Dayton Opera, while competing with over 50 of the finest tenors in the US , will be performing the role of St. Brioche on their Main Stage in a new production of The Merry Widow . The 2008 - 2009 season finds Mr. Sturdevant with the roles of Beppe in I Pagliacci and Tamino in Magic Flute with Opera Seabrook and Opera Company of South Jersey . During his undergraduate work at the University of Iowa, he performed the roles Monostatos in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and Don Curzio in Le nozze di Figaro along with the duties of tenor soloist with the University Chorus. After moving to St. Louis and beginning his Master degree program at Washington University , the tenor performed major roles with their opera program including Curly in Floyd's Of Mice and Men, Belaev in Hoiby's A Month in the Country, Damis in Mechem's Tartuffe and Elder Hayes in Floyd's Susannah. Mr. Sturdevant has also performed the roles of The Sailor in Dido and Aeneas , Emperor Altoum in Puccini's Turandot , and Der Offizier in Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos .
