Daniel Snodgrass, Lyric Baritone
With a voice that is most often described as elegant and exquisite, Daniel Snodgrass is a lyric baritone with solid, demonstrated abilities and major potential for international career success in opera, oratorio, and concert. Daniel is a graduate of Indiana University where he studied for four years with Nicola Rossi-Lemeni in the legendary basso's last years, and for another two years with Giorgio Tozzi. He enjoyed the opportunity of weekly master classes with Virginia Zeani, as well as coaching roles with international artists Gianna d'Angelo and Gloria Davy. Daniel Snodgrass excels in the bel canto repertoire, with successes in the '06-'07 season in performances of Malatesta in Don Pasquale and Belcore in Elisir d'Amore at the Miami Lyric Opera, and Riccardo in I Puritani at Riuniti Opera. Of Don Pasquale, the Miami Herald said, "Daniel Snodgrass...has a big, febrile baritone, with striking agility" and the Sun-Sentinel wrote "Daniel Snodgrass provided the most elegant singing of the evening as an amusing Malatesta." Mr. Snodgrass performed the roles of Schaunard in La Bohème with both the Miami Lyric and Treasure Coast Opera, where he has also performed Baron Douphol in La Traviata with Anton Coppola conducting, Lucas in The Student Prince, and Cascada in The Merry Widow with Faith Esham as Hanna. In past seasons, Daniel has also sung the roles of Nilakantha in Lakmé and Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus. Equally at home in the oratorio repertoire, Daniel is a favorite of the Miami Oratorio Society and has been soloist in Fauré's Requiem, Gaul's Holy City, Mendelsohn's Elijah, and Händel's Creation all to very favorable review. He has also been the soloist in both the Puccini and Schubert Masses, Mozart's Requiem and Regina Coeli, and Händel's Messiah with orchestras in Indianapolis and Washington, DC. With his performance of Joey in Most Happy Fella at Key West's Island Opera, the reviewer wrote “As the handsome cad Joey, Daniel Snodgrass oozed testosterone and sings with a voice that could melt butter." With equal success, Daniel Snodgrass has also appeared as Emile de Becque in South Pacific. In the coming season, Daniel has been hand-selected to portray the role of "Eddy" in Carly Simon's Metropolitan Opera commissioned work "Romulus Hunt" at the Gusman Center in Miami. Ms. Simon will be in attendance for rehearsals in addition to the gala and performances which are to benefit several charities and will be receiving television coverage and will involve a number of international celebrities.
