Katie Stevenson,Mezzo- Soprano

downloadable resume and bio

Lyric mezzo, Katie Stevenson, is performing in numerous states across the USA making  an impressive start while making her debut as Mercedes in Carmen with Amore Opera (formerly Amato Opera), in New York City.  Since making her debut on the east Coast, this wonderfully talented artist will be representing the Amore Opera in their Art Song and Arias concert later this year.  Katie Stevenson recently received accolades of praise for her performance of Enrichetta in I Puritani with Riverside Opera in Yonkers, NY.  She continued her successes performing Zerlina in Don Giovanni; Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro with Hallifax Summer Opera and Stephano in Romeo et Juliette with Anchorage Opera clearly establishing the young lyric mezzo soprano as the artist to be reckoned with wherever she performs.

Prior to her recent move to New York City, Katie Stevenson enjoyed equally great success in Anchorage, Alaska, where she worked with Anchorage Opera in numerous productions as well as being awarded Studio Artist with the company from 2009-2010 (Season under the direction of Torrie Allen). During that time her roles include 2nd Touriere in Suor Angelica; Singing Contestant in The Audition by Kalmanoff; and the role of  Mercedes in Carmen. The Bel Canto Singers of Alaska found Katie Stevenson also performing concert and scene programs throughout the grand state and she provided stellar performances time and again as oratorio soloist with the Anchorage Concert Chorus.

As a young artist, Katie Stevenson traveled to Halifax, Nova Scotia to perform the very difficult role of The Secretary in Menotti's The Consul. Her portrayal of the character was reviewed as "cold as ice" and "a truly memorable character." She then traveled to North Carolina to perform the role of Dorabella in Cosi fan Tutte with the American Singers Opera Project.

Katie Stevenson earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance from Portland State University in Oregon. She received further training as a Young Artist at the Astoria Music Festival and Bel Canto NW, where she performed in opera scenes and recitals.
Ms. Stevenson continues to make appearances in recitals and concerts in both Alaska and her home state of Oregon.
