Kelly Lynch, Dramatic Soprano

downloadable resume and bio

Dramatic Soprano, Kelly Fiona Lynch, possesses a uniquely versatile instrument, ranging from a robust chest register to F above high C, as well as stylistically from that of the bel canto to modern expressionism. She has performed recitals and concerts across the east coast of the United States, as well as in Italy and Honduras.

Ms. Lynch's early performing career was as a dramatic coloratura. As such, she performed the roles of Violetta in La Traviata, Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Micaela in Carmen, both Adele and Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, both Madame Goldentrill and Miss Silverpeal in The Impresario, both The Queen of the Night and Pamina in The Magic Flute, Amor in L'incoronazione di Poppea, Adina in L'Elisir d'Amore , and Despina in Cosi Fan Tutte . Upon studying and performing the role of Norma, Ms. Lynch decided to take time from performing to switch fachs, reconditioning the voice to re-emerge as a dramatic soprano. As such, she has performed the soprano solos in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Rossini's Stabat Mater, and understudied Verdi's Requiem and Strauss Vier Letzte Lieder .

No stranger to modern music, Ms. Lynch has performed Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire, and has premiered works by composers as Eric Moe, Daron Hagen, Roger Zahab and Barbara White.

Kelly Lynch has coached extensively with Igor Chichagov, Ray Blackwell, Patricia O'Neill, and Fiora Contino.

Having recently finished her doctorate work at Louisiana State University, where she majored in Vocal Performance, with a minor in Music History, Kelly based her doctoral work on King Harald's Saga, an opera by Scottish-born composer Judith Weir. A challenging vocal work, it requires the artist to sing acapella, as well as create eight different characters. She has since given lecture recitals at many universities in the work.

Her Masters Degree was finished at Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania . With a minor in Piano, her Bachelor's degree was completed at Mercy Hurst College, Erie, Pennsylvania .

A firm believer in the mind/body/spirit connection, Kelly Lynch has been a practicing massage therapist and energy body worker for the past ten years. Additionally, she is an accomplished martial artist, who achieved a blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do after four years of intense study while living in Rockville, MD. Ms. Lynch has also successfully taught classes in aerobics and aerobic kickboxing. Currently, Kelly Lynch is maintaining her own private voice studio, as well as working as a successful massage therapist.
