Kimberly Jones, Lyric Soprano
Kimberly E. Jones, International Lyric Soprano, is an alumna of the Ryan Opera Center with the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Her performances with Lyric Opera of Chicago include the slave girl, Margru , in the world premiere of Anthony Davis’s Amistad, (New World Records), Olga in Fedora, Princess Xenia in Boris Godunov, Pedro in Don Quichotte, and Despina in Cosi Fan Tutte. With the Ryan Opera Center, Ms. Jones portrayed Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief and she impressed audiences at Grant Park with both Zerlina in Don Giovanni and her Adele in Die Fledermaus. With Houston Grand Opera, Kimberly enjoyed great success with Papagena in their colorful production of The Magic Flute and again as Xenia in Boris Godunov. She returned to Houston Grand Opera receiving high marks for her performance of Clara in their production of Porgy & Bess. Later, as the Porgy & Bess production toured internationally, Kimberly Jones enjoyed huge success on the stages of La Scala in Milan, the Bastille in Paris, and the Bunkamura with the Tokyo Philharmonic. Ms. Jones highlighted Lyric Opera Cleveland's season in their production of John Adams I Was Looking at the Ceiling and then I saw the sky. Receiving rave reviews for her Composer in Mozart’s Jewel Box with the Chicago Opera Theatre, Kimberly continued her success in the role of Fiordiligi with Connecticut Opera Association’s Cosi fan Tutte. With Lyric Opera of Chicago’s “Opera in the Neighborhood”, she receive accolades for her performances of Rosina in The Barber of Seville and the title role of Cenerentola. Kimberly's concert appearances include the Philip Glass Symphony #5 at the Gewandhaus, in Leipzig, Germany, Stuttgart and Danish Radio Symphonies, in Ludwigsburg, Germany and Copenhagen, Denmark, as well as the Philharmonic of Orange County and Brooklyn Academy of Music, with conductors such as Maestro Dennis Russell Davies'. She has also appeared in concert with the Ravinia Festival (Bourgeois Gentilhomme) and Richmond Symphony (Knoxville: Summer of 1915). Ms. Jones made her Alice Tully Hall debut with the Little Orchestra Society in an evening of Vivaldi ensembles and arias. She was selected by Maestro Bruno Bartoletti (Lyric Opera of Chicago) to appear with the Orchestra della Toscana in Florence, La Spezia and Piombino in Italy, performing the Knoxville. She was one of four Ryan Opera Center artists showcased in a series of concerts at the Chatelet in Paris, France. For her portrayal of Clara in Porgy and Bess, Kimberly Jones was nominated for the NAACP Awards for Best Supporting Actress. |
