Nora Justak Teipen , Mezzo-Soprano

Nora Teipen , mezzo soprano, took stage with her portrayal of Maddalena in New Opera St. Louis's production of Rigoletto providing a performance opera buffs will never forget in St. Louis . On the heels of her success, Ms. Teipen continues the 2008 – 2009 season tackling the title role of Carmen as audiences enjoy the extraordinary mezzo at both Opera Seabrook and the Opera Company of South Jersey . Then she will be diving even deeper into the more dramatic repertoire with the role of Dalilah in the New Opera St. Louis production of Samson et Dalilah . The mezzo soprano made her solo debut with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra singing in Barber's Prayers of Kierkegaard . She has also appeared with the SLSO as a soloist in de Falla's El Amor Brujo, Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream , Duruflé's Requiem , and Tschaikovsky's Eugene Onegin.

Ms. Teipen has performed locally with New Opera St. Louis, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Masterworks Chorale, and the University City Symphony. In addition, she performed the role of Catherine in Honegger's Joan of Arc at the Stake at the Berkshire Festival and was the alto Soloist with the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh in Dvorak's Stabat Mater .

Ms. Teipen was a semi-finalist in the Vera Scammon Competition, a finalist in the Lyric Opera of Chicago Competition, and a finalist in the Bartenbach Competition.
