Regina Webster, Mezzo-Soprano
Regina Webster, Mezzo-Soprano, a consummate actress, comedienne, and vocalist, has performed extensively throughout the Chicago area in opera, operetta and musical theatre. Most recently she was Vera Boronol in Chamber Opera Chicago’s The Consul. Other recent roles include the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors for Artcraft Theatre in Chicago, Basio in I Gioielli della Madonna for Amici Opera, Philadelphia, and Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro for St. Martin Chamber Players, Peoria, Illinois. She has sung principal roles in many Gilbert and Sullivan operettas including the Fairy Queen in Iolanthe with Park Ridge Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Dame Carruthers in Yeomen of the Guard with the Savoy-Aires, and Cousin Hebe in HMS Pinafore for both the Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company and the Park Ridge Gilbert and Sullivan Society and was commended by the Chicago Tribune as “a Lively Cousin Hebe.” In Musical Theatre she sang the Mother Abbess in the Sound of Music with Winnetka Theatre, and Jack’s Mother in Into the Woods with Theatre-Hikes. She has been a featured vocalist in the CSPS Performance Series, the “Under the Picasso” Performance Series at the Richard J Daley Center and with the classical outreach series of the Artists in Resonance. She has also performed with Light Opera Works, has participated in multiple seasons of da Corneto Opera as alto section leader and in comprimario roles (Martha, Attila, La Traviata, Verdi’s Requiem), and has sung in operas at Bowen Park Opera, including Merry Wives of Windsor and La Traviata. She is currently contracted to sing Miss Newkirk in The Globolinks with Chamber Opera Chicago’s Menotti Showcase. PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE
