Lauded by the San Diego Tribunefor his, “rich, dark bass baritone; a promising young voice,” American bass baritone Will Earl Spanheimer is a recent alumnus of the San Diego Opera Young Artist Ensemble. This season, Will Earl sings the role of Colline in Puccini’s La Boheme in Richmond, and Sweeney Todd in Sondheims’s Sweeney Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street in Boca Raton. He is also featured as the Bass Soloist in Handel’s Messiah with Phoenix Metro Opera, as the Title Role in Verdi’s Falstaff with Opera Louisiane, and makes his Opera Seabrook debut as Leporello in Don Giovanni & Sparafucile in Rigoletto.
Will Earl was recently heard at the Natchez Festival of Music in the Title Role of Man of La Mancha, Pistol in Falstaff, El Gallo in The Fantasticks and as the Commendatore in Don Giovanni under the baton of Jay Dean. For the San Diego Opera he has previously performed The Servant in Don Quixote, and a Townsperson in Peter Grimes.  In 2007, under the baton of Steven Mercurio, Will Earl performed Ashby in La fanciulla del West at the St. Barth’s Music Festival.Also an alumnus of University of Cincinnati College –Conservatory of Music Opera Theatre Lucca, Will Earl Spanheimer has been heard on their mainstage as David in L’amico Fritz and as Don Alfonso in Cosi fan Tutte.
In addition to appearances with the Miami Bach Society in Saul and Miami Civic Chorale in Mozart’s Requiem, Spanheimer has been heard with the major opera companies of Miami, Seattle, St. Petersburg, and Phoenix. He performed excerpts from Carmina Burana with the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, after having been a soloist with Arizona State University’s Symphony and Choral Union.
Nationwide he has performed a wide concert repertoire and made several world premieres of upcoming work, ranging from Anthony Davis to Phillip Glass.
A two-time regional semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Will Earl placed fourth in the Florida Grand Opera Young Patronesses of the Opera Voice Competition.
