Youngjoo An, Soprano
International Soprano, YOUNGJOO AN, is a native of Seoul , Korea. Her recent operatic successes include the roles of Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi ; Suzel in L'Amico Fritz ; Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus ; Alice in Falstaff and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni . Youngjoo An made her debut at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, PA as soloist performing Dvorak's Te Deum with the Temple University Symphony Orchestra and Combined Choirs. She returned there again to perform Mendelssohn's Psalm 42 with the same organization. Youngjoo performed the role of Euridice in Orfeo ed Euridice with the New Jersey Festival of Opera. Ms. An was awarded winner of The National Opera Association in 2003 and 2006 with her performances in the leading roles of L'Amico Fritz and Falstaff . Ms. An was a recipient of the First prize of Pi Kappa Lambda. She was given much acclaim for her performances of such diverse works as the Four Last Songs by Strauss , the Madrigals II by George Crumb, and Ned Rorem's Gloria . In May, 2007, Ms. An made her first appearance in concert with Lyric Fest in “Once upon a Time” and returned to the venue in February, 2008 with the title “Tales from the Exotic” singing Duets from Madama Butterfly . With extensive concert experience in both instrumental and vocal, Ms. An serves as a staff pianist, coach and also instructor of voice classes at Temple University Esther Boyer School of Music. Youngjoo An's educational credits include a Bachelor of Piano and Voice from Yonsei University in Korea . Ms. An earned her Master degree in Voice from Indiana University and a Master of Music in Piano Accompanying/Opera Coaching from Temple University . She also holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance. Youngjoo An currently serves Korean United Methodist Church as an accompanist and a soloist.OPERATIC ROLES PERFORMED
