Soprano, YOUNGJOO AN, is a native of Seoul , Korea . Her educational credits include a Bachelor of Piano and Voice from Yonsei University in Korea . Ms. An earned her Master degree in Voice from Indiana University and a Master of Music in Piano Accompanying/Opera Coaching from Temple University. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance. Her opera experiences with Temple Opera Theater include roles such as Lauretta ( Gianni Schicchi ), Suzel ( L'Amico Fritz ), Rosalinde ( Die Fledermaus ), Alice ( Falstaff ) and Donna Anna ( Don Giovanni ). L'Amico Fritz and Falstaff, which Ms. An performed as a leading character, were awarded as a winner of National Opera Association in 2003 and 2006. In addition, she covered the role of Euridice in Orfeo ed Euridice with the New Jersey Festival of Opera. Ms. An was a recipient of the First prize of Pi Kappa Lambda. She has also given highly acclaimed performances of such diverse works as Strauss' Four Last Songs , George Crumb's Madrigals II, and Ned Rorem's Gloria . Ms. An made her debut at the Kimmel Center performing Dvorak's Te Deum as a soloist with the Temple University Symphony Orchestra and Combined Choirs in 2003, where she returned to perform Mendelssohn's Psalm 42 in 2005 with the same organization. Ms. An made her first appearance in the concert, “Once upon a Time,” with Lyric Fest in May, 2007 and returned to the February, 2008 under the title of “Tales from the Exotic” singing Duets from Butterfly . Ms. An has extensive concert experience in both instrumental and vocal. She served as a staff pianist and coach and also served as an instructor of voice classes at Temple University . She currently serves Korean United Methodist Church as an accompanist and a soloist.
